Now, after a
seven-month investigation, I can tell you about...a natural therapy that improves the functioning of your
BRAIN. No vitamin, no herb and no drug can make your brain
as fast, clear or powerful as this one mighty therapy.
This man's therapy is so powerful at improving the power
of brain function that people drive in, come on buses, and
fly in from all across America to see him and improve the
quality of their thinking and of their nervous system.
-
Why will people travel thousands
of miles to get a simple treatment that lasts only 30
minutes?
-
Why do people who are poor - even
the unemployed - borrow money from others so that they
too can benefit from this inexpensive therapy?
-
Why are people who are not
terminally-ill, and not even close to it, willing to
leave home and travel cross-country to an unknown doctor
for an unknown therapy, in the unknown town of Bellevue,
Washington?
-
What has this doctor discovered
that everyone else has missed?
The answer is simple: because this treatment makes them
feel better than anything else they have ever tried.
What
he has discovered is how to release the power of the brain
that has never been (and can never be) fully untapped by
other therapies.
Your brain and the nerves that come from
it control your entire body.
Everyone knows this, but hardly anyone
realizes the therapeutic significance of the statement. The
brain is your central computer. It runs the nerve and organ
network called your body. It makes sense that a therapy such
as this one that improves brain function can change your
entire body to a vastly healthier one.
80% of your nervous system is inside your
skull.
Yet natural healing spends almost all of
its efforts on the 20% of the nervous system from the neck
down. No therapy like this exists anywhere in natural
healing, and you will hear about it from no-one else but Sam
Biser.
In this issue, we'll be talking with Dr.
Dean Howell, a naturopathic doctor I interviewed in this
newsletter about two years ago.
However, since that time, Dr. Howell has
revolutionized his treatment, increasing its power so
greatly that I myself experienced major things that never
happened during his "old" treatments of two years ago.
To refresh your memory, Dr. Howell's
treatment works to correct major misalignments of the bones
of the skull that can disable your health.
No herb or vitamin can ever overcome the
effects of these cranial malformations. Your skull bones are
not rigid, as you might believe.
They have many complex joints.
As you breathe in, these skull plates
expand, and as you exhale, they contract. For various
reasons, these plates can become jammed or misaligned, and
this is what Dr. Howell's therapy corrects.
However, since the skull is the home of
the central nervous system (the brain), any changes caused
by his treatment can improve functioning all over the body.
Compared to other cranial therapies, Dr.
Howell's therapy is like a 456-horsepower bulldozer versus a
10-volt go-cart. That's because his therapy is the only one
that can move the major skull bones outward, and his is
the only therapy that can create
major motion and change in the
shape of the skull bones - changes that are visible to
anyone -
not just the therapist.
If
your face has a less than optimum shape, then your brain
also has LESS-than-optimum performance. Both can be
corrected!
And now, let's
begin my earth-shaking interview.
Sam Biser: What's
been going on during the last two years?
Dr. Dean
Howell: As
you know, I'm seeing changes in people's brain function,
bodies and faces I never saw before.
I've been taking
hundreds of Polaroid photographs before and after to
document these changes as best I can.
You know yourself what's
happened to you.
Sam
Biser: That's
right. I sure do. I've always had one of the narrowest, most
thin faces of anyone I ever saw, but its definitely starting
to get wider. I really didn't think that was possible, even
with your treatment.
But, a short time ago, I
went to dinner with a print salesmen I hadn't seen in some
time. Immediately when we sit down, he says, "I can't
believe it; you look years younger. What did you do? Shave
your beard? Lose weight?" It was none of those things.
Obviously, he couldn't figure out what had happened.
Dr. Dean
Howell: It's
just as remarkable what's going on with your wife Sandy. Her
face used to be what I call a pancake face. It wasn't
obvious from the front, but from the side of the skull, you
could see that the face and front of the skull were somewhat
flattened out - like a pancake. Now her skull is rounding
out from the front to the back.
Sam
Biser: A few
weeks ago, Sandy had a meeting with her lawyer. At the
meeting, her lawyer told her more than once that she had
never seen Sandy looking better. The lawyer says, "It must
be those long walks with the dogs in the fresh air that's
been so good for you. "
I smiled when I heard
that. Of course, Sandy's lawyer is only describing
Sandy's facial changes in terms that she herself can
understand.
Dr.
Dean Howell: I
know that you and your wife, and the other patients, are
flipped out and delighted from the visual changes in their
appearance. But to me, the most significant changes are not
in the face, they are in the functioning of the central
nervous system.
For example, in your
case, I noticed that your butt doesn't stick way out in the
back, like it used to.
Sam
Biser: But
isn't that just a cosmetic change?
Dr.
Dean Howell: Not
at all. That one single change means that your entire spinal
column has re-aligned itself. Now that it's in a more normal
alignment, it means, for one thing, that your muscles are
more powerful and efficient. They are using less body energy
to balance the spine and skull above them. That means you'll
feel stronger, and more coordinated, and more graceful when
you walk.
Also, don't you feel a
lot more relaxed than you used to?
“By changing the shape of the skull, we are
also changing the pattern of blood flow to the different
parts of the brain.”
Sam Biser: Of
course, you already know that. I used to feel tense all the
time, even when nothing was going wrong. I feel calmer, and
more upbeat. I also notice that my brain works faster and
easier But why would these changes be connected to any
change in my appearance?
Dr.
Dean Howell:
That’s because the shape of the skull affects the
functioning of different parts of your brain.
Sam
Biser: But
how can that be? Doesn't the brain just slosh around in a
bunch of fluid, no matter what the shape of your skull?
Dr. Dean
Howell: If
that assumption was correct, it would square with reality,
but it doesn't. All I know is that when I change the shape
of my patient's skull, powerful things happen to their
health, and to their emotional patterns.
You see, when the shape
of the skull changes, you are also changing the blood flow
inside the
brain. You are also affecting the flow of a special body
fluid called cerebral-spinal fluid, which feeds the nerves.
Also, my therapy may be changing the production and
distribution of hormones in the brain, such as serotonin,
which regulates your moods.
Medicine already knows
that changing the pressure on parts of the brain changes
personality. For example, one of the first signs of a brain
tumor is a sudden change in behavior. This shows that brain
function can be affected by mechanical pressures inside the
skull.
Sam
Biser:
I know that's right, because
Sandy's father had a brain tumor that killed him. For a
while before his death, it changed him from a shy person to
an extremely outgoing one.
Dr. Dean
Howell:
The function of any tissue
changes when you put pressure on it. From what I see,
there's got to be changes in brain tissue and nerve
transmission from moving the cranial bones outward.
For instance, one old
patient brought in his girlfriend who wanted to be a medical
technician. She couldn't learn Latin prefixes and suffixes
for her Med classes because she was dyslexic. Her brain
reversed the letters on her. After two treatments, she was
able to memorize all the Latin terms required and I never
saw her again.
Obviously, her brain is
now processing signals differently than before, because her
dyslexia is gone. This same change has happened to many
patients.
Then, I had a patient
from San Francisco who was so depressed she could hardly
feed her dog.
After a single set of
treatments, she wrote me, "Being free of the pain, fatigue
and depression, that shut me down for many years, has
certainly shaped my life for the better… more than I had
hoped. I can function again…translate, market my artwork,
start a college course this fall, ride horseback again and
have the energy to train and show my dog. It's like a new
life."
Isn't that something!
All this, just from changing the shape of someone's head!
"This treatment changes hormones, because
I've had cases where a patient's body shape got more normal
after treatment."
Sam Biser: What
do you mean exactly by body shape?
Dr.
Dean Howell:
Well, some people are too thin
on top and too heavy on the bottom.
There is not the
classical shape we expect to see in a fully-developed man or
woman. For example, the male should have wide shoulders that
taper down to the waist, and the same is true for a woman.
A woman's waist should
taper in before the hips flare out. And yet you see many
women with a pear shape, narrow at the top, and wide at the
bottom. This abnormal bone structure is largely due to a
problem with the pituitary, the master gland.
One man had so much pain
and inflammation under his feet that the doctors wanted to
cut his nerves, because no other treatment was working.
After one series of cranial treatments, the pain left and he
began jogging the next day.
I remember treating one
man who had a terrible birth. His mother's legs were taped
together when he started to come out of the birth canal -
because the doctors were changing shifts, and the labor
nurse wasn't allowed to have the delivery without the doctor
present.
So the labor nurse and
his father crossed his mother's legs, used adhesive tape and
taped her shut for fifteen minutes. And when he came out he
had a pointy head and bulgy eyes. By the time he was in his
twenties, he had migraines that nothing could stop.
He was a slender man,
athletic, and he used to run marathons and do long-distance
running. He was spindly, five-foot eight, 140 pounds, and
could run forever. Except that, before the day's end, he had
terrible headaches.
I kept working with him.
A protruding ridge went from the forehead toward the top of
his head. It was so sharp, but it gradually went away. His
bulging eyes also receded and became normal.
He had always been
unable to gain weight, in spite of always working out in the
gymnasium, to try to improve things. He suddenly started
putting on weight and muscle to where, instead of being 140
pounds, he eventually got up around 170 pounds and muscular.
He ended up with a V -shaped body: big chest and narrow
waist. But he started out with a waist and shoulders that
were almost the same, but it all filled in.
I think it was that his
male hormone, testosterone, turned on for him because of the
change in blood flow patterns into his pituitary. He started
getting more socially active and ended up finding a partner
as well, whereas before he hadn't ever mentioned the topic
of girls.
Sam
Biser:
Do the same type of changes
occur in women who get the cranial treatment?
Dr. Dean
Howell: They can. I've seen fat
distribution patterns change to where the woman gets larger
into her chest and smaller through her hips and waist.
I've also seen willowy
women who don't have a lot of bust start to develop.
Several women have
commented that their breasts are more perky and stand-up.
Part of this is also due to the spine and shoulders becoming
more erect as therapy realigns a hunched-over body posture.
"After a dozen
treatments, everybody looks different."
Sam
Biser:
Do you have patients come for
cosmetic benefits, even though the mental benefits are far
greater?
Dr.
Dean Howell:
Absolutely. Right now, I've got
an actress coming to me for treatment. In her career,
appearance or the loss of it, is everything. A plastic
surgeon had messed her up by removing some fatty tissue
below her eyes, which made her eyes even more deep-set and
dark.
Gradually, the cranial
therapy is bringing her eyes forward out of the shadows. Now
she's more photogenic.
I have had a number of
women coming to me who swore me to absolute secrecy. I could
never mention that they even came to my clinic. Because of
my treatment, they were better looking and didn't want
anyone to
know that they were receiving therapy for their looks.
All their friends were
jealous that they were looking younger. One of these
patients was from a small town nearby and she would kind of
skulk in and skulk out and she wouldn't want to accidentally meet
anybody in the waiting room who might know her.
It was her big secret
that she was in her late fifties. The bags under her eyes
disappeared and her cheek bones came up, and her eyes
rounded out and looked more clear and the little wrinkles
were gone, and she was just so pleased.
And it was her secret. She
said, "You can never tell anyone I
came in here."
"Changing someone's skull patterns also
changes their emotional patterns, whether they attract
people to them - or make others uptight."
Sam
Biser:
But isn't it vain of patients
to be so concerned about surface benefits like beauty?
Dr. Dean
Howell: No, it's not. When the face and
head are more beautiful and balanced, the nervous system
inside them works better too.
Cosmetic surgery only
improves appearance, and does nothing to improve the nervous
system. The same is obviously true of make-up. You can use
eye-liner to emphasize your eyes, or rouge to emphasize your
cheekbones, and that does nothing to help your brain.
But when you move the
bones, and the eyes come forward in the socket, and when the
bones of the cheekbones pop-up, and the skull rounds out at
the back or on the top, there are changes inside the brain.
You will feel, think and be different, and that's not
superficial. Your whole energy will change once your skull
rounds out.
Sam
Biser:
What do you mean "energy." Do
you mean you'll have more?
Dr.
Dean Howell:
No, I was referring to the kind
of “energy” or “presence” that you feel around someone. It's
not a question of how much. It's instead a quality of energy.
When I've had psychics
watch me work, what they say is that auras are larger, more
evenly-shaped, and the colors are more even throughout the
aura. Now I don't know exactly what that really means in
physical terms, but people notice that feeling too. It's
like their energy field feels bigger. And that they feel
more quality in their energy, not just tension.
Sam
Biser:
It's not a cup-of-coffee kind
of energy.
Dr.
Dean Howell:
You take coffee or
amphetamines, and you have more energy. But the quality of
the energy that you feel is more jittery or more shaky. From
cranial treatments, you do have more energy, but it's a
flowing kind and utterly different to being hyped-up.
Sam
Biser:
So that is part of beauty too.
It isn't just your photograph, it's the feeling that people
feel from you and around you.
Dr.
Dean Howell:
Right, it's the physics of the
energy.
Sam
Biser:
And that is what makes the
person more attractive.
Dr.
Dean Howell:
That's right. Other people are
affected. That's why there are some people that they call
magnetic and people want to be around them. It's that they
exude energy that changes the people nearby.
Sam
Biser:
And there are other people you
want to back off.
Dr.
Dean Howell:
There are other people I call
energy vampires. You feel like your energy is going into
them…like going into a black hole, you know? And those are
people that you want to stay away from and you don't know
why you feel uncomfortable around them.
There are a lot of
people like that. One way to start changing them is to
unlock their cranial structure, so they can at least start
normalizing their nervous system. As that happens, their
attitudes change and they can be easier to be around.
Some people make you
feel good when they're with you. It's not even anything they
say. It's just a feeling. Some radiate charisma; others
radiate tension.
This is all a quality of
how their nervous system is functioning, and we can change
that. In the past, we thought everything was from
psychological patterns and past experiences, but cranial
therapy has shown me that's not so.
When you remove the
pressure from the brain, a basically tense person will feel
calm, and will radiate that new awareness. This makes a
person more attractive to others. It's not just their
features; it's what it feels like
to be around them.
So, to return to your
original question, it is not vain to be concerned about your
physical attractiveness.
The shape of your face,
the way your body walks, whether clumsy or smooth, the way
you carry yourself (your posture), and the "energy" that
surrounds you - determines the way other people
automatically and unconsciously react to you.
And, the way other people react
to you does affect your success in life. Unless you live
on a desert island by yourself, and can satisfy all your own
needs, you live in a world in which much of what you want
comes only from the willing cooperation of other people -
family, co-workers, business people and strangers.
One benefit of the
therapy is that when couples do it together, the cranial
release, as always, is accompanied by emotional growth, and
the two people get closer together. Remember that emotional
traumas are recorded in your cranial structures, and that
when you release the skull, past roadblocks to growth seem
to disappear, without even talking about them.
Sam
Biser: How
long does it take to receive the results that other people
could notice?
Dr.
Dean Howell:
Probably a dozen thirty-minute treatments.
Sam
Biser: That's
all.
Dr. Dean
Howell: By
the time you get through a dozen treatments, you should have
substantial visible change. Maybe not to each person's
perfection, but enough to where you can notice the changes.
In terms of photos, four
treatments are often enough for most people to be able to
see substantial changes, sometimes dramatically so.
By realigning the
cranial bones, a 60-year old person looks about ten years
younger.
That's because the
facial bones are like tent poles for the skin. By moving the
tent poles, the skin tightens up, and wrinkles either move
to where they aren't noticed, or else the skin tightens up
naturally and they disappear.
Eyes,
if they're bulgy, you know, bug-eyed, sticking out like Don
Knotts, they move back into the head.
Actually, the head moves out around the eyes. Or, if they're
very deep set, the eyes come forward and become larger, more
luminous and more even and symmetrically shaped.
If you're bug-eyed, the
eyes get a little smaller and they start being properly
framed by the brow. And as that happens, the temples get
more filled out. They start rounding out.
The temples on many
people are pushed in and they're too narrow. What happens is
their face gradually gets more oval and as that happens, the
eyes get more uniform and symmetrical, more desirable in the
way that they look. As the eye socket changes shape, the
feeling of tension from the eyes disappears and people's
eyes appear softer and kinder.
And the same action that
causes the temples to change shape also causes the cheek
bones to rise up.
So the skin around the
eyes and the skin from the cheek bones to the nose and down
to the mouth, gets stretched more taut. Like getting a
facial tuck does, the wrinkles and things go away. And,
people, especially when they're in their 50's and 60's, tend
to look younger as this happens.
But what is even more
important to me than just the looks is that they
mechanically function better too.
-
Their spines look and work better.
-
Their jaws look better.
-
They breathe better.
-
They're in less pain or no pain.
-
Their organs work better.
-
They think more clearly.
-
They sleep better because they
breathe better so that gives them more energy in the
morning.
-
Their vision is better.
-
Their balance is better.
-
Their hearing is better.
-
Ant, they look better too.
And that is why I call
it optimization. It's not just looking better. You're
optimizing everything.
I view the beauty
changes as a side-effect, and I have people that come to me
with that as their main intention. For them, the side-effect is that
everything functions better.
Sam
Biser: What
is there in a man or woman's face that makes it pleasing to
others?
Dr.
Dean Howell: We
look for an oval face. A person with an oval face seems more
beautiful and easygoing than a person with a thin, narrow
face. People with a narrow face often come across as more
tense.
We also look for eyes
that are forward, but not bug-eyed or deep-set either. Eyes
that are deep-set and dark seem suspicious to others, or
foreboding. They make other people nervous.
The forehead should be
wide and smooth, and not have vertical ridges at the sides.
Mine did, and they gradually disappeared as I treated
myself.
"If your ears are not lined-up evenly on both
sides of your head, it means your jaw joint and your neck
are off kilter."
Sam
Biser: What
about ears. Don't people have ears that are lopsided or they
stick out too much or any of that?
Dr.
Dean Howell: Well,
you know, ears are always attached to the temporal bone from
the same place. It has to do with where your ear holes are.
So, you're not like Mr. Potato Head. You can't glue your
ears anyplace you want.
Sam Biser: Right.
That makes sense.
Dr.
Dean Howell: So,
when people's ears are in different places, it's telling you
about the position of the temporal bone. It's a big beacon
or a flag for a skull that's in trouble.
Sam
Biser: Are
people like that? Their ears lopsided.
Dr.
Dean Howell: Well,
the truth is, most people are like that. That is what
everyone is teased by their barber about it. When the ears
are off in alignment, then the jaw can't fit, because the
TMJ joint connects to the temporal bones.
That means that the head
doesn't sit straight on their neck, and so then they have
neck dysfunction too.
The TMJ doctors used to
say that if the TMJ was bad, it affected the whole rest of
the system. What they were doing was putting the cart before
the horse. It was the head that was out of position that
made the jaw not fit.
So, it's a major thing.
When people's ears are off center, major problems are going
on system-wide. Even if they don't have any really obvious
symptoms, they are still messed-up for sure, but don't
realize it.
Your ear tells you how
the bones are positioned.
So, you see, if your jaw
is crooked, it's going to be crooked because your ears don't
line up. And if your head sits crooked on your neck and you
have chronic neck problems, look first to the ears, because
if they don't line up, you know why you've got the neck
problems.
...
It's not a defective neck, it's a defective skull.
Sam
Biser: Do
people say "My ears look better now. "?
Dr. Dean
Howell: They
do. They also get more symmetrically positioned. The outward
flare on the ears will even out as the bones line up more
perfectly.
Sam Biser: So
they don't stick out as much?
Dr.
Dean Howell:
Right. They don't tend to stick out as much, or if one ear
sticks out and the other one won't, that will change as the
temporal bones get lined up more symmetrically.
There is no treatment
that does this, or has ever done this before. That's because
no one even knew that they could change these things.
Sam
Biser: What
else do you look for in a healthy skull?
Dr. Dean
Howell: We
look for high cheekbones to frame the eyes, a straight nose,
even teeth, and good posture.
By good posture, I mean
that the person carries themselves well; they are not
slumped forward and down like a defeated person, they are
not awkward when they walk, but smooth and naturally
graceful.
Sam
Biser: By
posture, you mean that people have to hold themselves erect?
Dr.
Dean Howell: No, I
am talking about unconscious posture versus willful posture.
Sam
Biser: Until
we met you, I thought like everybody else. I thought that
posture is what your mother told you. She told you to sit up
straight, put your shoulders back, tuck your tummy in.
That's posture.
Dr.
Dean Howell:
Instead, posture is the way that your nervous system has
figured out to make your body mechanically most stable. It's
a pattern, a holding pattern - a way of stabilizing the
whole body so it doesn't fall over.
Sam
Biser: Most
people would say, "So what, one person slumps like this or
that. What is the big deal?"
Dr.
Dean Howell: Well,
of course, when your posture is in different positions, it
affects the mechanical functions. In other words, it affects
how your muscles work.
Let's say, when your
pelvis is locked a certain way, your legs will move
differently, your feet will align differently.
Sam
Biser: Unless
you're a ballet dancer, who cares?
Dr.
Dean Howell: Well,
if you want to walk or run, it's going to make a difference.
Let's say your upper back and neck is tight, all the time.
Until your posture is better, it
can't be better. Because the
muscles are tight for a reason.
They're tight because the bones
aren't holding up all the weight.
So, if your head is too
far forward, in front of your feet and shoulders, the
muscles have to be tight because you don't want to look at
the floor as you walk. You want to look straight ahead, only
the problem is you're leaning forward.
In this case, the only
way you can function is with muscles tightening. It's just
like a tree that doesn't stand up straight in the garden and
you use a cable to tie it into place. Our muscles are those cables
holding up the head and neck and upper back.
Sam
Biser: So
posture is really major.
Dr.
Dean Howell: Bad
posture is what causes the local
disease phenomena that people will
seek treatment for.
For example, I treated a
dentist from Texas who had severe hip pains. He had tried
all sorts of holistic therapies, including something called
neural therapy, in which anesthetic is injected in the
nerves to calm them.
Nothing worked. Then,
after I worked on his skull bones, his pain was gone. When
the skull re-aligned itself, so did the rest of the spine,
and the hips went into a different position, which released
the pain.
When you correct the
skull, and then afterward move the bones in the spine to
where the body is most stable mechanically, then the body
begins to cure itself.
What I'm trying to do is
to move the bones to the place where they support the most
weight. And when they're in the place where they're
supporting the most weight, then the muscles don't need to
be tight anymore. When you are relaxed, you feel better and
look better.
You cannot separate
health from beauty. Cranial therapy works on both
simultaneously.
All these benefits are
within everyone's genetic potential when the skull is
healthy, but in most cases, that potential is never reached.
Why our skulls often never begin to reach
their genetic potential for health or beauty.
Sam
Biser: Why
not?
Dr.
Dean Howell: There
are many reasons. They include a traumatic or a forceps
delivery at birth, accidents or falls during early life that
changed the position of the skull plates, or poor nutrition
during childhood which affects the development of the skull
bones.
Another big cause is
orthodontic work. Instead of releasing the stuck or
misaligned skull plates and allowing the arches to develop,
the dentists constrict the arch, thereby tightening up the
skull.
"Like the rings in the trunk of a tree record good years and
dry years, the bones of a person's skull reflect previous
emotional and physical traumas." -- Sam Biser
Sam
Biser: What
if a person has a Caesarian delivery. Shouldn't they have a
better skull than someone who had a regular delivery?
Dr. Dean
Howell:
That's what you would expect, but I've found it's not
necessarily so. In fact, some of my patients who were born
Caesarian section were pretty locked-up.
Sam
Biser: How
could that be?
Dr.
Dean Howell: Well,
it could be due to developmental problems in the womb, due
to stress in the mother, or poor nutrition.
Also, some of my
patients who are psychics seem to believe that a person
carries over bad patterns from past lives that are
re-created in the skull, thus perpetuating them. Every
experience or trauma is recorded in our physical structure.
For example, if a woman
gets raped, the trauma changes the mechanical function of
her skull bones. Whatever is emotional becomes physical. You
cannot separate them.
So, these psychics feel
that these patterns carry over from one life to another. I
can't comment on whether the belief of these people is true
or not. I don't get into it, because it doesn't affect how I
treat anyone.
Sam
Biser:
Why can't the skull plates just
fix themselves in time? After all, the liver regenerates;
why not the head?
Dr.
Dean Howell:
I think the best analogy is
that of a stuck lid on a peanut butter jar.
When you have put the
lid on wrong, it gets cross-threaded, and you have to pry it
open. That's basically what I do with my treatment. I pry
loose the stuck cranial joints so everything can start to
normalize.
Sam
Biser:
Can you tailor your treatment
to what the patient wants done cosmetically? In other words,
raise up the left cheekbone, or pop out the right temple?
Dr. Dean
Howell:
I used to think so, but it's
not possible. All I can do is move the skull where it wants
to go. It's like a game of pick-up sticks. You might see the
stick you want at the bottom of the pile, but you have to
pick up all the other sticks that lay on top of it first.
So, I might see a
cranial problem, like depressed cheekbones or a narrow
skull, but I can't work on them directly. All I can do is
work on the skull plates that are locked, or fixated, and
harming the patient, and leave the rest alone.
The body calls the
shots. You cannot force the treatment. If you do, the body
resists. That's why I call my therapy, "neuro-cranial
restructuring", the most holistic therapy I know of.
How dents, depressions and ridges in the
skull bones can actually change shape and disappear from
treatment.
Sam
Biser:
You said earlier that your
therapy can cause the shape of the bones to change. Now, I
can see loosening up the cranial joints, but how can the
actual shape of bones change?
Dr. Dean Howell:
The answer is that bone is "plastic." It's alive!
Bone is subject to pressure and reacts. It's not like a
steak bone. It's not brittle. It's only like that when it's
dead.
Over a period of time,
bone shape will change because the bone-depositing cells
gravitate to where gravitational force and the electric
currents that are triggered by gravity are the greatest.
That's why people that
are bedridden get thinning of their bones. They don't have
any stimulation from gravity to make their bones grow.
So, when I move the
position of the cranial bones, this changes the pressures
that are on them. And that slowly causes the bones to react
by changing their shape toward a healthy one.
Many patients have
ripples and buckles in their skull bones because the joints
of those bones were under so much pressure that the bone
deformed as a way to try to alleviate the pressure that the
joint was under.
So, as you release the
joint, that ripple goes away. The dents and depressions and
ripples in people's skulls are pressure-dependent. As you
release the pressure, the bone deformities go away.
Sam
Biser:
So by changing the pressures in
the skull, you're changing where bone deposition or bone
destruction is going to be greatest.
Dr. Dean Howell:
That's exactly right. And that is why I love to work
on children. The reason I like it, is because if we change
where their bones are now, the whole growth patterns of
their skull is permanently altered for life.
Through that, we are
going to enhance nervous system functions in ways that we
couldn't even conceive of any other way. It's a totally
powerful thing. And you permanently change their potential.
The best favor you could ever do to a little baby is to have
this kind of therapy done properly.
“I work so hard on these crippled kids,
because I know they will be doomed without these cranial
treatments."
Sam
Biser:
But isn't this therapy too
rough for a child?
Dr. Dean Howell:
Not at all. I have worked on infants as young as 4
hours old, and helped them.
Sam
Biser:
Some people might think that
working on children was easier, since their skulls are
softer, but we saw you working on a sick infant, and that's
not so.
Dr. Dean Howell:
Actually, the problem is the skull joints in these
infants, and they can be as stuck as any adult's joints.
Sometimes, it takes so much force to move these joints, that
I almost become light-headed from the effort.
In some of the sudden
infant death cases, where their is a family history, I see
that the head is squared-off in the back. The same is true
in cerebral palsy cases and similar muscular disorders. As
the skull begins to round out from the treatments, their
breathing gets much better.
Sam
Biser:
What is a typical cranial
treatment like?
Dr. Dean Howell:
As you can see from the photograph to the side, I
insert a small balloon up the patient's nostril. The
balloon, called a finger cot, is connected to a small hand
pump, actually a blood pressure bulb.
There are 6 nasal
passages, three to each side; each one affects a different
area of the skull. I first analyze the patient to see where
the skull is locked. If you apply force to a passage where
the skull is working properly, then the skull resists.
So I only work on those
areas of the skull that are making the patient worse. I then
pump up the balloon, opening up the locked bones and
expanding the head. In places of extra tight skull locking,
I use up to ten balloons, layered one on top of one another,
which gives me extra pressure and power to make the
adjustments.
Each insertion/pump
lasts between 3 and 8 seconds. At the end of the 30 minute
treatment, whether I have to use the balloons 3 or more
times, I then align the rest of the spine so that the whole
"skull-and-spine" as a unit is then stabilized.
I warn patients not to
get chiropractic adjustments after this, as they can
de-stabilize the spine and change the shape of the skull
in a bad way.
Sam
Biser:
Is there any pain from all this?
Dr. Dean Howell:
No, as there are no nerves in the sinuses. However, patients
can sometimes feel pain as the teeth begin to shift as their
dental arches expand. This is temporary.
"Cranial therapy doesn't just eliminate pain and pressure
from the skull, it restores the brain to the full
power that Nature intended."
Sam
Biser:
Are there any other practitioners who use your methods?
Dr. Dean Howell:
At this time, only a handful, and they are not trained in
the advanced methods I now use. My goal is to train 500
licensed practitioners in the U.S.
It has been difficult so
far to find doctors willing to learn, because doctors don't
want to throw away what they have learned about the spine
and start over. And yet, that is what this new science
requires.
One doctor I recently
trained saw more changes in his wife's spine in four
treatments of mine than in 15 years of his own adjustments.
He saw changes in spinal curves from working on the skull
that he would not have believed if he had not witnessed them
himself.
Sam
Biser:
Is there anything else you want to add.?
Dr. Dean Howell:
Yes. This is not a therapy needed by just a few people.
Almost everyone needs it. All you have to do is go outside
to any mall or supermarket and look around. In our
civilization, you can hardly see a skull that is optimum.
The problem cuts across all races and economic classes.
Distorted skulls are
almost universal. To liberate the brain tissues from
pressures, and to free up the central nervous system, is the
greatest thing you can do for a human being's health.
No other therapy can do
this. Nothing I know of can do more for the brain, for
beauty, and for a person's overall emotional expression. For
years, I've been a lone evangelist for a therapy that can
change a person's life and his power to be himself.
Now, it's time for
everyone to experience this. Listen to the story of one of
my typical patients, a woman named Ginger, and you'll see
why I am so excited.
For the past few years,
she lived with non-stop pain. The muscles in her back,
shoulder, neck and head were in continuous pain. Her eyes
hurt from the pressure, and her vision deteriorated.
Sleeping was extremely difficult, as she couldn't find a
comfortable position.
After a series of only
four treatments, she wrote: "Immediately, I felt a surge of
electric energy, as if my whole system was waking up.
Getting up from the table, I looked at myself in the mirror.
As in the other patient's pictures, my narrow face was
wider, and rounder. My eyes were set differently and my face
was rounder, softer, not so angular. I had cheek bones I
never knew I had. I even got something of a facelift as my
"new" cheekbones pulled up some saggy skin as they came
outward.”
"For years, I hadn't
felt this awake and alert, and I had a hard time going to
sleep that night. For the first time, it wasn't because of
the pain, but because I was so incredibly awake.”
"My muscles, no longer
in spasm, let go of their knots and congestion so easily.
The pressure behind and above my eyes has abated, so it is
more comfortable to fully open my eyes. My muscles, tired or
not, show new tone. I feel younger than ever in my 47
years.”
"My self-image has
improved, and my personality is stronger and more confident.
My brain function has also improved. Before, I had been
scatterbrained and, if I was interrupted, I would forget
where I was. Now, if I'm interrupted, I can simply return to
what I was doing and think easily - no problem. My
concentration and short-term memory is better."
She concluded by saying:
"This is perhaps the most extraordinary and fast healing
method available which realigns the body and its energies."
Ginger is right. It is
the fastest healing method available, and it creates the
deepest changes. Cranial therapy is so profound that I call
it "transformational medicine." You not only solve problems
in weeks or months that weren't fixed in years, but you end
up a different person - a bigger person - emotionally,
intellectually, and spiritually.
Sam
Biser:
I'd have to agree. For the sake of being a writer, I have
subjected myself to all kinds of therapies since I began
writing in 1973. Yet, this one therapy has caused major
changes in my body that I have never seen in all these many
years.
